Connecticut Single Cigar

I’ll start by saying Connecticut cigars usually aren’t my first choice, but the Indalo Connecticut may have changed my mind about the category. From the opening draw, this cigar was unbelievably smooth, producing full, creamy smoke with an equally smooth retrohale and virtually no spice. As it developed, a natural sweetness and woodsy character began to emerge while that beautiful creaminess remained throughout. Paired with a 20-year Panamanian rum, the flavors absolutely came alive, bringing out a rich caramel note that made an already excellent cigar even better. Then, transitioning from the second into the final third, the cigar surprised me with a perfectly balanced spice, not too much, not too little, that combined with the sweetness, creaminess and rum to create what I can only describe as a spiced creamsicle. Construction was excellent from beginning to end, with an effortless draw, full smoke production and a nearly flawless burn. I’m not normally a huge Connecticut smoker, but this is easily among the top five Connecticut cigars I’ve had and has me wanting to explore the category further. Outstanding cigar, and one I absolutely intend to keep in my humidor.
